Consumer and Housing Policy in Action: Exploring Policies and Programs in Washington, DC
Decisions made in Washington, DC affect our lives in Athens, Georgia
everyday. The purpose of this program is to provide an in-depth study of consumer and housing
programs and policies at the Federal level. The emphasis will be on current issues. Students will meet
and interact with a variety of private and governmental officials in Washington, DC.

Dr. Emanuel Fiadzo, first HACE Ph.D. graduate, will deliver the annual Darl Snyder lecture, sponsored by the African Studies Institute.
Emmanuel Fiadzo is a 1998 graduate of the University of Georgia (Ph.D in Housing and Consumer Economics). His dissertation looked at how to estimate determinants of housing quality using standardized core welfare indicators, with a focus on the Ghanaian housing market. He was 2004-5 senior research fellow at the Joint Center of Housing Studies at Harvard.
