Research:
Osteoporosis Prevention in Children and Adults; Body Composition Assessment; Pediatric Overweight Teaching:
Nutrition Throughout the Life Cycle and Medical Nutrition Therapy. Interests:
Dr. Lewis' primary area of research examines the bone responses to dietary interventions. He is collaborating on a multi-site trial with Baylor College of Medicine and the University of California, Davis. The trial, Osteoporosis Prevention Using Soy Isoflavones (OPUS), is examining the efficacy and safety of soy isoflavones in postmenopausal women. Additionally, he is conducting a zinc intervention trial in early pubertal children to examine the effects of zinc on bone turnover.
