Research:
Maternal and infant/child nutrition and health, international and community nutrition interventions, methods of assessment of nutritional status, and program monitoring and evaluation

Teaching:
Optimal Nutrition for the Life Span, Public Health Dietetics, Nutritional Epidemiology

Interests:
Dr. Anderson is interested in maternal and child nutrition. He is particularly interested in health promotion related to breastfeeding, child feeding and maternal health. Dr. Anderson is also interested in how early child feeding practices influence the development of chronic diseases and body compostion in later years. He has shown that peer educators markedly improve breastfeeding rates and duration in low-income women in the United States.
