Housing Buying, Owning, Renting Avoiding Foreclosure

Foreclosure picture

Behind on your mortgage payments?

The most important thing you can do is keep your mortgage payments current.  If you find yourself falling behind on your mortgage, you need to take action quickly. Contact your lender.  Ignoring the problem does not make it go away.  To save your home from foreclosure you need to have BOTH the desire to work hard to keep your home AND the ability to make the payments.  You have to be realistic and willing to make changes.

There are several new programs that may help you stay in your home by refinancing to a lower interest rate or modifying your mortgage loan. You may qualify for Making Home Affordable if your loan is owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Look up your mortgage loan to see if it qualifies.

Be careful of people trying to take advantage of your situation. The Federal Reserve provides 5 tips to avoiding foreclosure scams.
